Minimum Wage To Increase In Redwood City In New Year

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City’s minimum wage will increase to $16.20 on Jan. 1, a slight bump from $15.62 in 2021.

The local increase stems from the city council’s approach to move quicker than the state’s goal of reaching a $15 minimum wage by 2020, according to the city. The council sought to address the high cost of living in Redwood City and had extensive input from businesses, the city said.

After 2021, the minimum wage will shift according to the consumer price index (CPI). The 2022 $16.20 minimum wage is $15 per hour plus the 2020 CPI.
