Mountain Lion Sighting in Woodside Tuesday Night
The big cat was spotted in the Skylonda area east of Hwy. 35.

A mountain lion was spotted in the Skylonda area of Woodside on Tuesday night, prompting authorities to warn the public to be on the lookout.
The wild cat was seen in the vicinity of Medway Road, just east of
state Highway 35, according to a San Mateo County emergency service alert.
County officials are warning residents to avoid confrontation with a mountain lion, especially one that is feeding or with offspring.
Mountain lions can be aggressive in the event of an encounter, so residents are advised to face the animal, make noise and try to appear larger in stature. Do not run from a mountain lion, as this might tempt the animal to give chase, wildlife officials said.
Residents who live in mountain lion habitats are advised to avoid hiking or jogging at dawn, dusk or at night when the animals are most active.
A mountain lion was also spotted in a residential area in San Carlos early Tuesday. In that case, the cat was seen crossing the street near
the 400 block of Portofino Drive, near Big Canyon Park, at about 1:15 a.m.
