Nearly 1,100 Handmade Clothing Items Donated In Redwood City

The sixth annual "Chase the Chill" event brought 496 scarves, 415 hats, 159 masks, 15 pairs of socks and a pair of gloves.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Nearly 1,100 handmade items were donated to Redwood City community members in need through the sixth annual “Chase the Chill” event, in which people are asked to knit articles of clothing and hang them on sites around the city.

The items donated included 496 scarves, 415 hats, 159 masks, 15 pairs of socks and a pair of gloves, according to event organizers.

According to photos posted to the event’s Facebook page, the items were hung on trees, draped on benches and strewn across the city.

Chase the Chill was founded in 2008 in Pennsylvania, and launched locally in 2016 with the support of the Redwood City Parks, Recreation and Community Services, ARTS Redwood City and the Redwood City Parks and Arts Foundation.
