New physician leader named at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City
Orthopedic surgeon Charles Lim, MD, is named as physician in chief at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City

Charles K. Lim MD, is the new physician in chief at the Kaiser Permanente Redwood City Medical Center. He will lead and oversee the physicians and clinical care delivery operations that serve patients and members at the Redwood City Medical Center and San Mateo Medical Offices.
Lim, an orthopedic surgeon, joined Kaiser Permanente Redwood City in 2002. Lim previously served as chief of orthopedics and as the physician leader over information technology where he led the planning, implementation, and utilization of health care information technology tools and applications.

Lim was born in Myanmar (formerly Burma) and grew up in the Boston area. He earned a bachelor’s degree with highest honors in biochemistry and molecular biology at Harvard College, received his medical degree from the Stanford University School of Medicine, and he completed his residency in orthopedic surgery at the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia.
Lim follows Grace Firtch, MD, as physician in chief. Dr. Firtch, a physical medicine and rehabilitation specialist at Kaiser Permanente Redwood City, will be moving into a leadership role at Kaiser Permanente Northern California.
