REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City community members have a new gathering space downtown.

The space was possible thanks to the Redwood City Improvement Association (RCIA), which unveiled the area last week.

“We are thrilled to officially unveil this new space to the community,” Executive Director Amy Buckmaster said. “One of the goals of the Redwood City Improvement Association is the beautification of downtown, and this new community gathering space outside the library serves as an area for friends and family to come together.

Buckmaster also thanked Redwood City Library Director Derek Wolfgram for partnering with RCIA during the roll-out.

The area was one of 10 spots around Redwood City identified in 2020 as spaces for people to congregate through the city’s “Placemaking Program.”

The program was put on hold during the pandemic, but is now serving as a pilot for the program.
