Occupied Peninsula Home Burglary Under Investigation: Cops

A similar burglary of an occupied home occurred Feb. 9 in Palo Alto.

PALO ALTO, CA — Palo Alto police released a photo captured by a surveillance camera of a man suspected of burglarizing an occupied home early Monday.

In a news release shared Tuesday afternoon, police said they are investigating whether this suspect is connected to reports of prowling in the previous 24 hours and to a similar burglary nearby earlier this month.

Officers responded Monday to a 7:18 p.m. report of a home burglary in the 1300 block of Forest Avenue.

The person reporting the crime said she noticed handbags were missing from her home and, when reviewing video footage from surveillance cameras saw an unknown suspect enter her home at about 2 a.m. through an unlocked door.

Cameras recorded the suspect walk into the dining room and pick up the four handbags -- which the caller said are valued at more than $10,000 combined -- and then exit through the back door.

Police said other residents nearby reported seeing a similar looking suspect prowling outside homes early Sunday morning.
