REDWOOD CITY, CA — Harnassing new federal incentives, Peninsula Clean Energy recently inked agreements to install new solar systems and battery storage equipment on public buildings in San Mateo County and nine of its cities.

The agency announced the 20-year agreements Tuesday to generate 1.7 megawatts of solar power for a dozen buildings. Officials said the projects will make the Peninsula home to now of the first renewable energy projects in the nation to tap the new federal benefits. Funding was made available through the Inflation Reduction Act.

The new installations are on track to be up and running by the end of this year and are expected to save the participants an estimated $17 million.
