Peninsula Compliance Check Nets Arrest On Gun Charges

Officers conducted the parole compliance check at around 3:30 p.m. Friday.

MENLO PARK, CA — A Peninsula compliance check last week resulted in the arrested of parolee on drugs and weapons charges, Menlo Park police said.

Artemio Sepulveda, 25 of Menlo Park, was arrested on suspicion of being a felon in possession of a firearm, possession of a large-capacity magazine, carrying a loaded handgun without being the registered owner, possession of a controlled substance, and violating terms of his parole, police said.

Sepulveda was booked at San Mateo County Jail, police said.

Officers conducted the parole compliance check at around 3:30 p.m. Friday at Sepulveda’s residence in the 700 block of Pierce Road, police said.

“While officers were speaking with him, they observed a 9mm, semiautomatic firearm in plain view and within reach of Sepulveda,” police said in a statement.

Officers during a subsequent search of the residence found approximately two pounds of marijuana, suspected fentanyl, a digital scale, and two 9mm 100-round high-capacity magazines.

Sepulveda is on parole for a residential burglary and bringing narcotics into a secured jail facility, police said.

He was also out on bail for possession of a firearm and driving under the influence, according to police.
