Peninsula DUI Checkpoint Nets 7 Arrests, 28 Citations

Officers screened 1,062 vehicles Friday night at the E. Hillsdale Boulevard and Saratoga Drive checkpoint.

SAN MATEO, CA — A San Mateo DUI checkpoint over the weekend resulted in seven arrests and 28 citations, police said.

Officers screened 1,062 vehicles and administered seven field sobriety tests at the checkpoint,which as held Friday night at E. Hillsdale Boulevard and Saratoga Drive.

Two motorists were arrested on suspicion of DUI, four for driving on a suspended license, and one for an outstanding warrant, police said.

Twenty-eight citations were issued for driving without a license.

“While we are glad to see the checkpoint was effective, we are saddened knowing people knowingly drive under the influence,” police said in a statement.
