Peninsula Man Arrested, Accused Of Emily's Cakes Burglary: SMC

The San Mateo County Sheriff's Deputies say the suspect is linked to another burglary in January.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A Redwood City man was arrested Wednesday morning on suspicion of commercial burglary, vandalism of Emily's Cakes as well as a probation violation in the outskirts of the Peninsula city, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department reported.

Deputies responded to the 11:20 p.m. call on Tuesday in which a suspect identified as Manuel Magdaleno, 28, broke into the Fair Oaks area bakery at 3102 Middlefield Road by shattering a glass door. While in the business, he broke open two cash registers and stole the money from inside before leaving, the sheriff's department indicated.

Surveillance cameras at the business recorded the suspect allegedly committing the burglary.

Deputies reviewed the video surveillance footage and claimed they recognized Magdaleno as the suspect from a previous burglary committed in January of this year, the report adds. As a result of the January burglary, Magdaleno was placed on supervised probation.

Upon arrest, deputies collected evidence linking Magdaleno to the burglary.
