Of Puppet Masters and Shadow Presidents

Jamal Simmons suggested that Biden should step aside and let Kamala Harris be officially president until the transition in January but really.... The fact is that women and men who so desperately wanted a woman president should just relax. We have one but in classic fashion she is in the shadows more aptly called a shadow president or a puppet master.

If you have any doubts about this, let’s review a couple of facts:

Joe Biden was a centrist until he “became president “ but somehow “he” has implemented the most progressive agenda ever much more in tune with the policies and beliefs of his vice president/ shadow president.

When originally asked on The View about the things she would have done differently Kamala Harris could not think of one thing. I don’t know a human; man, woman or child; that would answer that way when comparing him or herself with ANOTHER person. But of course if it was her agenda to begin with well the answer makes sense.

Then a couple of weeks later during the CNN town-hall, she is essentially asked the same question but asked as to the future and still can only come up with a statement that she is younger and a different generation. She had time to come up with a good answer and that was the best she could come up with. Yes, she is the acting president.

Now we are learning that when George Clooney wrote his letter to The NY Times regarding Joe Biden not running again and Nancy Pelosi talked to Biden, Pelosi expected an open mini primary. Is Nancy Pelosi saying she couldn't think and strategize the next step so nobody discussed the next stage with Biden to ensure Biden was on the same page. According to Pelosi the problem was that Biden endorsed Harris. If that was going to be a problem shouldn’t it have been discussed up front.

Again clearly if Harris is acting as president and covering for Biden. Biden HAD to endorse her. There are a couple more facts that underscore the reality that we have a shadow president like the by now infamous debate between Biden and Trump. So you really think that guy is in control? Sadly for those who would have preferred to at least have a woman shadow president by essentially forcing the current president out, we are now going to end up with another shadow president but this time a guy.

One bad debate does not mean the end of a campaign witness the final result of the Trump vs Harris debate. Whatever you may have initially thought ( full disclosure my immediate gut reaction was here we go for Hillary 2.0) after that debate the final election winner was Trump. When Biden was pushed out, I strongly believed the Democrats had made a huge mistake. I believe Biden would have recovered and that the final result would have been certainly much closer if not an outright win. But we will never know. As Pelosi put it we live with what happened.

Sadly because of Trump’s advanced age we are most likely about to embark on a second shadow presidency. Sad not because I think either original candidate was better but because I prefer that the front person be the actual leader.

Maybe it really is time to set a maximum age for candidates in elected positions from the president on down to your local council members and school board representatives. My vote goes to age 75.
