Redwood City Cleanup Event To Be Combined With Earth Day

The Peninsula city has been ranked by the Environmental Protection Agency as #7 for its contribution to green energy.

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- Fresh off a No. 7 ranking for its notable contribution to "green energy" by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency, Redwood City plans to its Annual Spring Clean-Up 2019.

The cleanup day coordinated around Earth Day is scheduled between 8:30 a.m. and noon on April 27 at the Public Works building located at 1400 Broadway St.

Earth Day, which officially makes the calendar on April 22, is an event observed each year to promote environmental awareness. It happens to fall a day after the birthday of John Muir, a naturalist, author and philosopher who fought to preserve wilderness areas in the Sierra Nevada. He died Dec. 24, 1914.

Ceremonies and festivities are scheduled throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.

In particular, the EPA designated the Redwood City as a Green Power Community and Green Energy Partner.

For its cleanup day, breakfast and a barbecue lunch will be provided, so participants will be fed well to keep up their strength and the green momentum.
