Redwood City Ferry Project Comes Before City Council
The plan builds on a proposal for ferry service between San Francisco and the Peninsula, with the Port of Redwood City housing a terminal.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — The Redwood City Ferry Project Business Plan was expected to come before the city council on Monday.
The plan builds on a proposal for ferry service between San Francisco and the Peninsula, with Redwood City serving as the southernmost hub for the San Francisco Bay Ferry system, providing an alternative commute option between the Peninsula and San Francisco and the East Bay.
The Port of Redwood City would house the terminal. Caltrans awarded Redwood City $5 million late last year in one-time state funding for the project, though it has not yet been received by the city.

Upon acceptance by the council, the Port of Redwood City, the Water Emergency Transportation Authority (which operates the San Francisco Bay Ferry) and the San Mateo County Transportation Authority would also have to accept the business plan.
Then, design, environmental review and permits would be discussed.
