Redwood City Fire Chief Stan Maupin Announces Retirement

Deputy Chief Dave Pucci will serve as acting chief. The department also serves San Carlos and some unincorporated areas in San Mateo County.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City Fire Chief Stan Maupin on Wednesday announced his retirement after serving as chief for four years.

Deputy Chief Dave Pucci will serve as acting chief of the fire department, which also serves San Carlos and some unincorporated areas in San Mateo County.

Maupin had been fire chief since January 2016 and was with the department for 13 years in all. Before that, he worked in the Foster City Fire Department and Tracy Fire Department dating back to 1990.

"Serving as Fire Chief for the cities of Redwood City and San Carlos has been the pinnacle of my career and I am grateful for the many opportunities and experiences over the past 30+ years," Maupin said in a news release. "Not many people can say they worked their dream job; I am definitely one of them."
