Redwood City man drowned Saturday while diving for abalone off the Sonoma County coast, a coroner's deputy said today.
Gerard Accristo, 61, was pulled from the water near Salt Point State Park at about 11:45 a.m., according to the Sonoma County coroner's office. Efforts to resuscitate him were unsuccessful and he was pronounced dead at the scene.
The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office and Cal Fire assisted in the response.
