Redwood City Native Marie Fox Joins Peninsula Family Service

Redwood City native Marie Fox started her new job as the Peninsula Family Service's Development Director.

Peninsula Family Service announced Monday that Redwood City native Marie Fox joined the organization as its Development Director.

Fox was brought onto the team, because her previous experiences aligned with the PFS mission.

“Marie brings outstanding experience and a track record of success to Peninsula Family Service," said Arne Croce, executive director of Peninsula Family Service.

“I am excited to have her join our team as we position the organization to build upon our legacy of providing a ‘hand up’ to hardworking families and individuals,” Croce said.

Prior to joining the PFS, Fox was the Director of Development at the National Center for Equine Facilitated Therapy. The NCEFT offers therapeutic riding experiences for children with special needs in Woodside, California. Fox raised funds for the organization and is credited with doubling the center’s income in two years.

From 1998-2004, Fox flexed her fundraising muscle as the Vice President of Development for ReSurge International, non-profit organization that helps children in developing countries get reconstructive surgeries.

Although her work has an international focus, Fox was born in Redwood City, California.

She completed her undergraduate education at San Francisco State University, earning a bachelor degree in social work and psychology. She studied abroad for graduate school, attending Uppsala University in Sweden to further her domain expertise in social work. She earned a socialpolitik certification.

When she returned to the United States, Fox worked as the Associate Director of Development for Stanford University Medical Center. In that role, she managed fundraising initiatives for cancer research, according to her LinkedIn profile. She is credited with bolstering an endeavor that raised $89 million for a new clinical sciences research center.

“I am passionate about building the public benefit sector and the programs that help those in need,” Fox explained in a statement.  “And I am honored to be working with Peninsula Family Services to help advance its initiatives,” she said.

Founded in 1950, Peninsula Family Service is a non-profit organization that empowers people by helping them attain self-sufficiency through a variety of educational opportunities. Some PFS initiatives promote positive social interactions, while others help people attain skills necessary to be productive members of society.

The organization helps about 20,000 children, families, and older adults in the Bay Area every year, according to Croce.

Peninsula Family Service is located at 24 Second Avenue in San Mateo, California.
