Redwood City Robbery Suspect Violated Restraining Order, Deputies Say

Prosecutors allege a man robbed a woman of her cell phone and later tried to break into her bedroom.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A 39-year-old man was arrested over the weekend after he allegedly violated a restraining order, robbed a woman of her cell phone and later tried to break into her bedroom in unincorporated Redwood City.

About 11 p.m. Saturday, authorities were called after the suspect showed up at a home in the 200 block of First Avenue in North Fair Oaks, according to the San Mateo County Sheriff's Office.
The suspect allegedly stole a cell phone and money, and then fled before deputies arrived. The victim was not physically injured, the sheriff's office said.

A few hours later, early Sunday morning, the suspect returned to the victim's home and allegedly tried to break into her bedroom. Sheriff's deputies were already looking for him and found him hiding nearby.

Alex Guerra-Arevalo, of Redwood City, was arrested and booked into the Maguire Correctional Facility on suspicion of robbery, residential burglary and a protective order violation.
