Redwood City Sign to Get a Facelift

Roy Cloud School to host E-Waste Collection on Sunday.

Redwood City’s iconic "Climate Best" archway is getting a facelift.

The venerable sign on Broadway at Spring/Maples, which welcomes one and all to the city, will be getting a power wash over the weekend. On Monday, the neon lights will be replaced and the structure will receive a generous paint job.

The city will remove the neon sign boards for this purpose, and by late April will put it back up, and add some "bird proofing" (netting) to help maintain its cleanliness and operation.

In other city news, an EWASTE Collection Event occurs Sunday as a benefit for Roy Cloud School and helping the 8th graders raise travel funds for their Washington D.C. trip in June.

The Roy Cloud Ewaste Collection will take place between 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. in the Jefferson parking lot, 3970 Red Oak Way, on Sunday.

The Roy Cloud announcement explained E-waste as “defined as any consumer electronic equipment that has reached its ‘end of useful life’, whether in full working condition or not.
