Redwood City Unveils Interactive Map For Housing Element Strategy
The site shows each of the city's neighborhoods, approved and proposed projects and single-family residential homes where SB 9 applies.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — Redwood City unveiled a new interactive map to view potential housing sites and strategies in the city’s draft housing element for 2023-31.
The site shows each of the city’s neighborhoods, approved development projects, proposed projects and single-family residential homes where Senate Bill 9 applies. The map also shows different strategies by which the city can meet its planning allotment for the next housing element.

Redwood City must plan for 4,588 housing units for the 2023-2031 Regional Housing Needs Allocation cycle. The pandemic slowed down some expected building permits, but Redwood City entitled over 900 housing units between 2019-21, according to city staff.
The city’s planning commission will hold a study session and public hearing on the draft housing element, potential housing sites and draft rezoning strategies on Tuesday at 6 p.m. Click here to access the meeting.
