Redwood City's Bay Cities FC Approved For Pro Soccer League
The new club will play in the National Independent Soccer Association beginning in 2022.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Bay Cities FC, the new professional soccer club based in Redwood City, received approval last week to play in the National Independent Soccer Association (NISA) beginning in 2022.
NISA is a league in the third tier of the American soccer pyramid. The club has so far played friendlies in its “Summer ‘21 Tour,” and participated in the 2021 NISA Independent Club.
“To say we are eager for kickoff this spring is an understatement,” says Anders Perez, co-founder and president of Bay Cities FC. “Bay Cities is a community-orientated club at its core committed to the open system based on merit. We will never lose sight of this founding mission. We fully understand we represent our community and its members every time we take the pitch."

Bay Cities FC will play home matches at Sequoia High School's 3,500-seat stadium in downtown Redwood City.
Organizers said the club's goal is to sign and grow players between the ages of 16 and 18 by giving them the opportunity to play with professionals and speed their development. The club also hopes to bridge communities in the Bay Area across various social and economic backgrounds through presenting opportunities for top youth soccer players.

“We’ve been anticipating this moment for months and are elated it is finally here,” NISA Executive Vice President Josh Prutch said. “Anders and his team have not slowed the club development at all since we announced their application last April. We can’t wait to see how this Northern California club continues to galvanize the community and brings opportunity for rivalry to NISA fans.”
