Richmond Man Arrested, Accused Of Peninsula Sexual Assault

San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies said they believe the man was trying to flee to Mexico before being apprehended for assaulting a girl.

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- A Richmond man was arrested Thursday on suspicion of committing lewd acts with a child under age 14 while inside his vehicle, the San Mateo County Sheriff's Department announced Friday.

Victor Alfonso Paredes-Castro, 34, was taken into custody at his home upon being accused of sexually assaulting his girlfriend's family member last Saturday at 4:30 p.m. in unincorporated Redwood City, deputies reported.

The victim reported the incident immediately after it occurred. The suspect fled the scene before deputies arrived.

Detectives believed Paredes-Castro was preparing to flee to Mexico before being apprehended.
