Scott Peterson Resentenced To Life Without Parole
Peterson, convicted of the 2002 murders of his wife and unborn child, was resentenced Wednesday in a Redwood City courtroom.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Scott Peterson, convicted in 2002 of murdering his wife and unborn child, was resentenced to life in prison without the possibility of parole on Wednesday in a Redwood City courtroom.
Peterson, 49, has spent the past 17 years on death row. In a trial that drew national attention, Peterson was found guilty in 2004 of killing his 27-year-old wife, Laci Peterson — who was eight months pregnant with their unborn son, Connor, at the time of her death.
The family of Laci Peterson spoke at Wednesday's hearing, addressing Peterson directly in the courtroom.

Sharon Rocha, Laci's mother, called Peterson a "coward," accusing him of killing Laci and Connor because he "didn't want a baby nor the responsibility of being a father," according to the San Francisco Chronicle.
“Your evil, self-centered, unforgivable selfish act ended two beautiful souls,” Sharon Rocha said.

Amy Rocha, Laci's sister, said that seeing Peterson again made her "sick."
“Even though the death penalty has been lifted, you will still be punished in this life and after," Amy Rocha said, according to the Chronicle.
The California Supreme Court last year ordered a review of Peterson's murder conviction by a San Mateo County jury. That ruling followed a Supreme Court decision last August to overturn Peterson's death sentence, citing judicial error in the penalty phase of his trial.
