Sequoia Hospital Receives Top Honor From Leapfrog Group

The Redwood City hospital was only one in 35 to get the honor, which was given out for patient safety and quality of care.

REDWOOD CITY, CA -- Highlighting its nationally recognized achievements in patient safety and quality, Dignity Health Sequoia Hospital was named a Top General Hospital by The Leapfrog Group. Sequoia is one of only 35 hospitals nationwide to receive this honor.

The Top Hospital Award comes following the hospital’s fifth consecutive “A” Hospital Safety Grade, also from The Leapfrog Group.

“Quality and safety are the highest priorities for the caregivers and staff at Sequoia Hospital, and we’re very pleased to receive consistent recognition from The Leapfrog Group,” Sequoia Hospital President Bill Graham said. “We are committed to providing the best possible care for our community.”

Performance across many areas of hospital care is considered in establishing the qualifications for the award, including infection rates, maternity care, and the hospital’s capacity to prevent medication errors. The rigorous standards are defined in each year’s Top Hospital Methodology.

To qualify for the Top Hospitals distinction, hospitals must submit a Leapfrog Hospital Survey and achieve highest performance in its category. The selection of Top Hospitals 2018 is based on surveys from nearly 1,900 hospitals. To see the full list of institutions honored as 2018 Top Hospitals, visitwww.leapfroggroup.org/tophospitals.
