'Shop With A Hero' Finds Gifts For Peninsula Kids In Need
The first "Shop with a Hero" event takes place Thursday and will take 100 children on a shopping spree at Target.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Peninsula first responders will take 100 children in need on a shopping spree Thursday for San Mateo County's inaugural "Shop with a Hero" event.
Police officers, deputies, firefighters and Marines will join local leaders to host the kids for breakfast before hopping on SamTrans buses and heading to Target. Each child will have a $200 budget, get to play games and visit Mr. and Mrs. Claus before grabbing some lunch.
The sheriff's office said each child was nominated to take part in the fun by educators, charitable agencies, law enforcement members and the Sheriff's Activities League.
