SMC To Host Recruitment Fair For 911 Dispatchers
The March 30 event will give job-seekers the chance to learn more about a career in dispatching and how to get started.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Peninsula job-seekers will have a chance this month to learn about embarking on a career in public service.
The San Mateo County Communication Managers Association will host an Emergency Dispatch Recruitment Fair at the Sandpiper Community Center in Redwood City on March 30. Attendees will have the opportunity to speak with representatives from agencies around the region, including the San Mateo and Redwood City police departments, and get their questions answered by a Q&A panel.
According to the San Mateo Police Department, the base salary for a dispatcher is more than $128,000, and perks include on-duty workout time, education incentives, and lateral hiring bonuses.

The event includes a speaker series, detailing the life of a 911 dispatcher, followed by a panel to field questions from the audience. Attendees who register in advance will also be entered into a raffle.
