SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County is preparing to deliver toys and books to children in need this holiday season, soliciting wish lists from families served by housing programs.

The Housing Authority of the County of San Mateo is again partnering with the Human Services Agency and the Peninsula Library System to distribute surveys to families, asking them to select three gift options that best suit each child in their home.

"Every year, all of at the Housing Authority look forward to this tangible reminder that we provide more than rental assistance — first and foremost, we are here to support families," said Victoria Grant-Velgado, a coordinator for HACSM.

Families will have until Nov. 17 to return the survey, and every child will receive at least one gift from the list, officials said. HACSM staffers deploy to hand out the toys during the second and third weeks of December.
