Chistina Corpus will be the only NorCal sheriff on the Board of State and Community Corrections.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Gov. Gavin Newsom has appointed San Mateo County Sheriff Christina Corpus to serve on the Board of State and Community Corrections (BSCC). The board, formed in 2012, is tasked with providing leadership and guidance for adult and juvenile criminal justice practices across the Golden State.
Corpus began her career in corrections and is one of two sheriffs who currently serve on the BSCC.
"I have spent a large segment of my career working in corrections here in San Mateo County, and I have a deep understanding of the challenges and opportunities facing correction facilities," Corpus said in a statement Monday. "I look forward to applying my experience and expertise to help improve systems statewide."
