Solid Waste Rate Increases Proposed In Redwood City

The city will host a community meeting Wednesday at 12 p.m. on Zoom to discuss the proposed rate increase.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — The Redwood City council will consider a proposed waste rate increase at an upcoming council meeting.

The proposed rate hikes are:

  • $2.00 increase for regular, scheduled, basic collection of residential solid waste and recyclable materials for 20-gallon bins.
  • $1.00 increase for regular, scheduled, basic collection of residential solid waste and recyclable materials for 32-gallon bins, and
  • 1.947% increase for unscheduled solid waste services.

Waste services are provided by Recology San Mateo County under contract with the city. The city said the proposed increases are intended to ensure that revenue from solid waste rates is enough to cover Recology’s costs of providing solid waste services.
