SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — San Mateo County crews worked Monday to clear debris at several parks where powerful winds and heavy rain wreaked havoc over the weekend.

Multiple parks remained closed Monday afternoon after strong gusts toppled trees and snapped branches, blocking roads and trails. Crews worked Monday to clear trees that fell in several locations inside the Coyote Point Recreation Area, Fitzgerald Marine Reserve and Quarry Park.

County officials expected Azalea Campground would remain closed until at least Sunday due to recent flooding, and Parks crews were removing more trees and powerlines from areas of Pescadero Creek Park and Crystal Springs Regional Trail.

Sunday's high wings, including gusts that topped 100 mph in at least one location, led to power outages across the Bay Area that lingered well into Monday. PG&E estimated nearly 33,000 Peninsula customers were still without power late Monday afternoon.

Forecasters predict a much calmer trend in the weather over the next few days, apart from a few scattered showers, with partly sunny skies on tap to return by mid-week.
