Community hours will be held from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Fair Oaks Community Center at 2600 Middlefield Road in Redwood City. Slocum decided to hold office hours during the evening, citing that many residents are unable to find the time during the day to see him.
"I know that many working people simply can't get downtown to the County Government Center before 5 p.m. to meet with me, share their concerns or ask for assistance," Slocum said.

"I want to be accessible and available. The best way that I know how to solve that problem is to locate myself in the community, after hours, and make myself available."
