Teens Yell Slurs, Throw Fireworks At Redwood City Pride Event, 1 Person Injured: Police
Two 13-year-old boys were arrested for assault with a deadly weapon and hate crimes, police said.
REDWOOD CITY, CA — Police said they have arrested two teen boys as of Thursday after they shouted homophobic remarks and threw fireworks into a crowd of people at a Pride event in Redwood City.
At around 5:55 p.m. on Wednesday, Redwood City Police Department officers responded to the Courthouse Square in Downtown Redwood City after receiving reports that individuals had thrown fireworks into a crowd of people yelling discriminatory and homophobic remarks, police said.
Officers said that the suspect had fled the area before they arrived.

Police said they identified two adults were attacked and one had minor injuries.
Later that evening, police arrested one suspect, a 13-year-old boy, and on Thursday, officers identified and arrested another 13-year-old boy suspect.

Both boys were released to the custody of the San Mateo County Youth Services Center, police said.
