San Mateo County Officials Identify 31-year-old Woman Who Died In Jail

The coroner's office has identified the woman sheriff's deputies said they found experiencing a medical emergency in a jail housing unit.

SAN MATEO COUNTY, CA — The coroner's office announced Thursday they identified the 31-year-old woman who died in a San Mateo County jail early Monday morning.

Markeisha Monique Renee Blount, 31, of Stockton, was found experiencing a medical emergency at around 6 a.m. on Monday, according to San Mateo County Coroner's Office officials.

San Mateo County Sheriff's deputies said they administered lifesaving measures but the woman was pronounced dead at the jail, police said.

The coroner's office have not released the cause of death as of Thursday morning.

The San Mateo County District Attorney’s Office, the San Mateo County Coroner’s Office and the Sheriff’s Office Investigations Bureau are conducting independent investigations to determine the circumstances surrounding the death.

Kyle Harrison, 25, died March 15 at the Maple Street Correctional Facility. Sheriff’s deputies found him unresponsive in his housing unit around 4:50 p.m., but lifesaving efforts were unsuccessful.

Harrison died due to the “toxic effects of Methadone, Amitriptyline and Gabapentin” and the death was reported as an accident, the coroner's office said.

On Tuesday, sheriff's deputies arrested a man trying to sneak suspected drugs, paraphernalia and a cell phone concealed in his shoe into the same jail.

Brian Siordia, 27, of San Jose, entered the Maple Street Correctional Facility trying to visit another person who was incarcerated there when police found him carrying the contraband.
