Bay Area Woman Killed Crossing The Street

Police said they found the woman unconscious almost 100 feet from the intersection.

REDWOOD CITY, CA — A 32-year-old woman was struck by a car and killed while crossing the street Monday afternoon, police said.

At around 12:11 p.m. on Monday, the Redwood City Police Department received a call that a woman had been hit by a car and was lying on the ground.

When officers arrived they said they found the 32-year-old unconscious and without a pulse nearly 100 feet from the intersection. Officers began administering CPR at the scene before paramedics arrived and took her by helicopter to Stanford Hospital where she was pronounced dead.

Police said the driver remained at the scene, was cooperative and was not under the influence of drugs or alcohol.

The driver told police that they had been traveling eastbound on Woodside Road towards Highway 101. The driver said they entered the intersection on a green light when they heard a loud impact on their car and pulled over to find out they had hit a pedestrian, police said.

A witness who was walking with the woman told police that they were crossing Woodside Road towards Highway 101, police said. The witness told officers he had walked ahead of the woman while crossing the road when he turned around a saw her get hit by the car, police said.

The witness reported that he and the woman were crossing the intersection, where there was not a designated crosswalk, at the time of the collision.

The collision remains under investigation.
