Woodside Parks Ranger Quarters Charred, Motorcycles Engulfed
A San Mateo County team of fire crews took on an early Wednesday morning fire at the Tripp historic site where a parks staffer lives.
WOODSIDE, CA -- The side of a building at a site recognized as on the National Register of Historic Places was charred early Wednesday morning, prompting a collaborative response by San Mateo County firefighters to battle the blaze.
The Woodside Store, aka Tripp Store, at 3300 Tripp and Kings Mountain roads sits adjacent to the San Mateo County parks ranger quarters where a lean-to awning caught on fire at 1:30 a.m. after his three motorcycles were totally engulfed in the flames, San Mateo County Battalion Chief Kevin Butler told Patch Wednesday afternoon.
"He was awakened to a popping sound -- probably the tires," Butler said.
