Truck Flies Off Overpass in Dramatic Freeway Crash (meaww.com) — A dramatic crash in Rialto sent a pickup truck flying off an overpass and down onto the 210 Freeway, where it was hit by another vehicle. Rialto police and the CHP say both drivers survived and were hospitalized after the December 5 collision. The wreck briefly turned a routine drive into a chaotic, multi-vehicle emergency scene.

Jury deadlocks in trial of man accused of throwing fatal punch in downtown Riverside (sbsun.com) — A Rialto resident who was observing a late-night confrontation in downtown Riverside died after being punched and hitting his head, and a jury has now deadlocked on the assault charge against the accused man. The judge declared a mistrial, and prosecutors will decide by February 18 whether to retry the case. The defendant remains free after pleading not guilty.
   

4. Californians are being detained by ICE despite being U.S. citizens. Will it keep happening? (sfchronicle.com) — A Rialto landscaping business owner is among several California U.S. citizens who were wrongly detained by federal immigration officers, according to lawsuits now heading to court. Their stories, shared at a recent congressional hearing, challenge federal claims that citizens are not targeted and raise questions about how Supreme Court rulings and enforcement practices could affect residents across Southern California.
