• Not guilty plea entered in Rio Vista slaying (thereporter.com) — A man has pleaded not guilty to charges connected to his mother’s death in her Rio Vista home, a case that began with a welfare check and arrest by Rio Vista police in May 2024. The 59-year-old Pollock Pines resident remains in custody as prosecutors allege the killing occurred over several days, with a trial-setting hearing scheduled in Vallejo on January 20.

• Dec. 18 Vallejo/Vacaville A/E Source: Faces and Places (thereporter.com) — A Rio Vista student, Sam Esperson, has earned the top $8,000 Donnie Huffman Presidential Scholarship and is highlighted as a 2022 Rio Vista High School graduate now studying agricultural systems management at Cal Poly. Local students across Solano County, including Rio Vista grads, can apply for more than $30,000 in Dixon May Fair agricultural scholarships by March 1, 2026.
