• Riverside City Council Approves Changes To Ethics Board Procedures (riversiderecord.org) — Riverside’s City Council has tightened how its volunteer Board of Ethics reviews complaints, removing language that told members to treat allegations as true and directing them to weigh evidence from both sides equally. The council also added whistleblower protections, expanded who can file complaints, and declined to extend the filing deadline, while sending proposed online-conduct rules back for more study.
   

• Kitchen Fire Displaces 3, Kills Family Dog In RivCo Apartment (patch.com) — A Wednesday morning kitchen fire in a Canyon Crest Drive apartment in Riverside displaced three adults and killed the family dog, though firefighters kept the flames from spreading to other units. One resident was evaluated after trying to fight the fire, and the Red Cross and a SAVE Card are helping the primary tenant while investigators determine the cause.
   

• Rachelle Román appointed director of the Riverside County Office on Aging (heysocal.com) — Riverside County has named longtime public servant Rachelle Román as the new director of the Riverside County Office on Aging, which oversees services for the region’s rapidly growing senior population. Her leadership will guide programs that support dignity, independence, and accessible resources for older adults and people with disabilities across Riverside and surrounding communities.
