1st United Credit Union has teamed up with the Oakland A’s Community Fund in support of Alameda County Community Food Bank (ACCFB) this year. For every home run the A’s hit during the regular season, 1st United committed to donate $50 to the Food Bank.

“I can’t believe this is our tenth year participating in Homeruns for Hunger,” commented Steve Stone, Chief Executive Officer at 1st United Credit Union. “It’s an incredible program and we couldn’t have foreseen the longevity of our partnership with the A’s and Alameda County Community Food Bank. Besides providing much-needed support for our community, it gives us another reason to cheer on our hometown team.”

During September’s Hunger Action Awareness Month, 1st United and the Oakland A’s Community Fund presented a combined $35,000 donation to ACCFB. To date, 1st United has donated over $94,000 through Homeruns for Hunger.

According to ACCFB, one in four Alameda County residents are experiencing some level of food insecurity. That’s why 1st United has also stepped up in 2022 to serve as ACCFB’s official Food Drive host, accepting food donations in their branches all year. “Our in-branch food barrels are overflowing with donations! And we couldn’t be happier about the generosity of our community and our membership,” added Mr. Stone.
