DA Files Charges in Sandra Coke Killing

The North Oakland woman's body was found in Vacaville five days after her daughter first reported her missing.

On Friday, Alameda County prosecutors charged Randy Alana with the murder of Sandra Coke, according to the Oakland Police Department.

Police arrested Alana, 56, on a parole violation on Aug. 9, the same day that Coke’s body was discovered in a dry creek bed in Vacaville. Coke’s friends and family had reported her missing from her North Oakland home five days earlier. She was 50 at the time of her death.

Alana, who has been in jail since his arrest, has prior convictions for rape and other crimes. He is registered as a high-risk sex offender. His arraignment is scheduled for Friday.

“I wish to commend the excellent investigative work of the Oakland Police Department in solving this case. I can assure that community as well as the family and loved ones of Ms. Coke that Randy Alana will be brought to justice for this brutal and senseless crime,” Alameda County District Attorney Nancy O’Malley said in a press release.
