2 Boys Accused Of Breaking Into Church, Defecating On Bathroom Floor

SANTA ROSA, CA — Santa Rosa officers arrested two boys accused of breaking into a church and defecating on its bathroom floor over the weekend, according to police.

Around 8:15 a.m. Sunday, police got wind of a burglary and vandalism reported at Santa Rosa Bible Church at 4575 Badger Road. Investigators said the crime happened the day before, when no employees were present at the church.
According to a field evidence technician with the Santa Rosa Police Department, two teenage boys broke into the church grounds through an unsecured door, threw items around, broke a toilet in a bathroom, defecated on the bathroom floor, and urinated on the gymnasium floor.

The boys also allegedly damaged a brand-new children's play structure outside of the church's buildings.

Based on security camera footage provided by the church, the boys were quickly identified by police. At approximately 10 a.m. Monday, a 14-year-old Santa Rosa boy was arrested and booked into juvenile hall on suspicion of burglary and vandalism, both felonies.

A 15-year-old Danville boy, who was identified as a cousin of the other suspect, was driven to Santa Rosa by his parent to surrender. He was also booked into juvenile hall for the same alleged crimes.

"We know you're growing, learning, and figuring things out -- but here's something that always matters: respecting other people's property," the Santa Rosa Police Department said in a statement.

"Breaking into homes, schools, or businesses, or tagging and vandalizing buildings and property might seem like 'no big deal' in the moment -- but it hurts real people and damages the community we all share."
