Blaze at Budget Inn Still Under Investigation

Fire officials said nothing looks suspicious so far.

The fire that engulfed the five rooms on the back side of Budget Inn Feb. 9, that caused about $200,000 in damage, is still under investigation, but Fire Marshal Dan Adam said he doesn't suspect anything suspicious.

One hotel guest was sent to a local hospital for breathing problems following the blaze.

At about 1:56 p.m., Public Safety officers and firefighters responded to a fire at the Budget Inn at 6298 Redwood Drive, a fire dispatcher said.

Authorities arrived at the scene and found heavy smoke and flames pouring out of an employee break room on the first floor of the hotel, according to the dispatcher.

Guests were immediately ordered to vacate their rooms.

Personnel from Santa Rosa, Rancho Adobe, Rincon Valley and Goldridge Fire Departments assisted in extinguishing the flames, a fire dispatcher said.
