Flood Warning Extended For Parts Of Sonoma County

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The National Weather Service extended a flood warning until Thursday for parts of Sonoma County because of ongoing flooding.

"At 8:05 p.m., the rain has ended. However, automated river gauges show that flooding is ongoing in the warned area," the National Weather Service said Wednesday night.

The flood warning was expected to remain in effect until 10 a.m. Thursday. Some locations that will experience flooding include Santa Rosa, Rohnert Park, Sebastopol, Cotati, Forestville and Graton, the weather service said.

Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams and other low-lying and flood-prone locations was imminent or occurring, forecasters said. Streams continued to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall.

Mark West Creek and Green Valley Creek were still experiencing moderate flooding as per their respective gauges, the weather service said. Heights were decreasing, but flooding continued so the flood warning was extended.
