'Hoop For Change' Fundraiser Canceled For Sonoma County
A nonprofit organization that supports low-income students pay for college will host their other scheduled event in Marin County.
SAN RAFAEL, CA — A nonprofit will host their annual basketball fundraiser Saturday in San Rafael where participants can shoot free throws to win prizes.
There was an event scheduled for the same time in Santa Rosa but that event was canceled, organizers announced Thursday evening.
In 2024, 10,000 Degrees hosted its first "Hoop For Change" event where they raised $40,000 for low-income students and the North Bay Basketball Academy.

At the event, local students and community members will participate in a free-throw shoot-a-thon and have a chance to win prizes such as a PlayStation 5, autographed souvenirs by NBA stars Stephen Curry and Moses Moody, tickets to upcoming Golden State Warriors games and more.
The event will be held from 9 a.m. to noon at James B. Davidson Middle School in San Rafael.

At last year's event, over 80 participants — from third grade to adults — competed for prizes and also had a chance to take photos with Golden State Warriors alum Zaza Pachulia.
