
SANTA ROSA — The CHP said just after 9 a.m. Sunday northbound Interstate 101 north of Todd Road in Santa Rosa was closed due to a downed tree.
The redwood tree crashed down on a car as it was driving on the highway, injuring and trapping the driver.
Crews from the Santa Rosa Fire Department and Sonoma County Fire District had to cut the tree to get to the driver.
The person was taken to a hospital for treatment with what were described as serious injuries by fire crews. An update on their condition is not available.
The road has reopened.
