Rain Brings Emergencies By The Dozen For Local Fire, Police

Northern California had a brief break in shower activity overnight, but we're not done yet, according to the National Weather Service.

Weather officials said to expect additional shower activity through the day. The chance for lingering showers will continue through the night.

However, some showers will produce heavy rain, according to the weather service officials, who cautioned drivers to keep their "heads up" on roads where water gathering in pits in the roadway could form ponds.

Sonoma and Napa can expect blue skys and warmer weather from Wednesday to Saturday.
Unsettled weather returns Sunday.

Despite the let-up, police and fire have received dozens of calls reporting crashes, fires, and toppled trees. Reports in the past 60 minutes include:

• Cyclist reportedly down at intersection of Occidental Road and Harvest Lane in Santa Rosa.
• Downed wires in the 2510 block of Lone Oak Avenue in Napa.
• Crash with injuries reported on 1910 block of Silverado Trail in Napa.
• Crash at the intersection of Piner Road and Cleveland Avenue in Santa Rosa.
• Controlled burn on the 7510 block of Saint Helena Road in Santa Rosa.
• Controlled burn on 2300 block of Nuns Canyon Road in Glen Ellen.
• Downed tree on Hidden Springs Road in Napa County.
• Crash blocking both lanes on CA-101 southbound near Dry Creek Road in Santa Rosa.
• Fire alarm activated on 100 block of Fairway Court in Sonoma.
• Controlled burn reported on 16200 block of Norton Road in Healdsburg.
• Structure fire burning on 2800 block of Pleasant Hill Road in Sebastopol.
• Fire on Lytton Springs Road in Healdsburg.
• Crash prompting emergency response on Grove Street in Healdsburg.
• Paramedics were dispatched to Laguna Drive in Rohnert Park and, in other calls, to Healdsburg Avenue in Healdsburg and to the 1280 block of Steele Canyon Road in Napa.

Conditions on the water are still hazardous, according to the weather service, which forecasts seas in excess of 10 feet over the outer waters. However, overall conditions will gradually improve late Tuesday into Wednesday.
