Residents Invited To Help 'Pack The Patrol Car': Sonoma County Sheriff

Santa Claus will be on hand to accept donations and spread cheer at the upcoming family-friendly event.

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The Sonoma County Sheriff's Office is hosting a toy drive and resource fair Friday to "pack the patrol car."

Community members are invited to join the Sheriff’s Office and its justice partners for the fun family-friendly event from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. Dec. 8 at the Sonoma County Sheriff's main office, 2796 Ventura Ave. in Santa Rosa.

Guests are asked to bring a new unwrapped toy or gift for donation or gift cards for eateries, coffee shops, bookstores, movie theaters or clothing stores. Other gift suggestions are sports equipment, art supplies, small electronics, Legos, board games, puzzles or makeup, fingernail polish and other grooming supplies.

The sheriff's Henry-1 helicopter will do a flyover and Santa Claus will be on hand to accept gifts and spread cheer.

Several public safety agencies and nonprofits will also be on hand to interact with guests, including the Santa Rosa Fire Department, California Highway Patrol, Family Justice Center Sonoma County, and more.

The donated gifts will be distributed before Christmas by The Salvation Army, R-Hoops and other local community groups to those in need in Sonoma County.

For those who would like to donate a gift but can’t make it to Friday's event, the sheriff's office said its donation bins will remain in the lobby of its main office until Wednesday, Dec. 13.
