Rohnert Park, Cotati Go Under Freeze Warning: NWS

SONOMA COUNTY, CA — The National Weather Service has issued a freeze warning for parts of the North Bay including Sonoma County for Tuesday morning.

The NWS freeze warning is in effect from 1 a.m. to 9 a.m. Tuesday.

Rohnert Park and Cotati temperatures are expected to hit 29 degrees at 6 a.m. Tuesday with a “RealFeel” of 27 degrees before warming up to 56 later in the day, according to the latest AccuWeather forecast.
The coldest temperatures are expected in the interior valley locations of Napa and Sonoma counties.

Early Monday morning, Highway 29 was closed between Calistoga and the Napa/Lake county line due to snow, according to the NWS. It was expected to be cleared by 10 a.m.
Sub-freezing temperatures could hit the region again late Tuesday night into Wednesday morning.
Inland valleys throughout the region are expected to experience near-freezing temperatures.
The NWS is urging residents to follow the “Four P’s” of cold weather protection:
- People: Wear layers, limit exposure to cold, check heaters in advance.
- Plants: Cover or bring sensitive plants indoors.
- Pets: Bring pets indoors at night and provide them with warmth
- Pipes: Wrap/cover exposed outdoor pipes to prevent freezing.

The freeze warning follows a weekend of unsettled weather in which up to 5 inches of rain fell in parts of Sonoma County and more than an inch of the wet stuff fell on most of the Bay Area.
