COTATI - The Rohnert Park Department of Public Safety is warning motorists to expect the usual congestion on Saturday during commencement ceremonies at Sonoma State University.

The university expects each ceremony - scheduled for 9 a.m. and 3 p.m. - will draw about 12,000 people to campus.

Rohnert Park DPS officials say after-ceremony traffic delays are expectedΒ beginning around 11:30 a.m and 5:30 p.m. with heavy traffic congestion lasting for about 30 minutes on the following roads:

The university reminds residents that the commencement keynote speaker this year is Dan Nevins, an Iraqi War Veteran, alumnus of the Wounded Warrior Project, and a motivational speaker.

SSU says attendance could increase at the graduation because of Nevins' notoriety, worsening traffic conditions around the campus.
