A Peek Inside Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill

Thursday morning, I was lucky to get a tour of the under-construction and much-anticipated Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill on Vernon Street.

Owners are keeping many of the final details under wraps until the restaurant and entertainment venue’s opening, but developer Steve Pease with Innova Restaurant Concepts LLC was able to share a few details.

Pease does promise that Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill’s vibe will be “fun.”

“He’s (Sammy Hagar) a fun guy, high energy,” Pease said. “We want to just make a great experience for anyone that comes in. What they strive for is a pretty unique experience.”

Pease said the restaurant will be a departure from other Sacramento-area restaurants and will be a strong addition to Downtown Roseville.

“This is a fantastic downtown with great amenities that are not fully appreciated,” Pease said.

Former Van Halen singer, Hagar will perform live at the restaurant during an . A grand opening, which will be open to the public, is planned for Saturday, Sept. 22 with limited hours before then, Pease said. Stay tuned as grand opening details are finalized.

Inside the Restaurant

Even though the restaurant is currently under construction, it’s easy to see the pieces coming together. Construction crews are still working, but the walls are painted. The 10,000-square-foot space will have an island theme; walls are brightly painted in blocks of aqua, orange, lime green, pink and purple.

Walking into the space, the stage sits to the right and the downstairs bar to the left. A mezzanine seating area above the entrance overlooks Vernon Street. The restaurant’s larger upstairs area is home to a second bar and a back-space overlooking Atlantic Street that will be used for private parties, Pease said.

Pease estimates the entire space will be able to seat about 320 people. 

On the Menu

Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill will feature pan-Asian influenced cuisine. Their menu will include burgers, seafood, sushi, pasta and salads and a full bar with a wine list and draft beer.

The space will also feature a crudo, or raw, bar, which Pease describes as sushi-like with island spices.

The cocktail menu will feature rums, including Hagar’s own line of rums, Pease said.

Entertainment Plans

In addition to Hagar playing live for an at Sammy’s Rockin’ Island Bar & Grill, Pease said there are plans to have live entertainment about three times a week. They also hope to have “The Wabos,” perform monthly.
