Police: Parolee Steals Pickup, Leads Officers on Chase

Randy Keith McCorkle of Citrus Heights was arrested Nov. 15.

Roseville Police arrested a local parolee Tuesday morning after he reportedly led them in a pursuit in a stolen pickup.

Just before 1:30 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 15, a resident in the 400 block of Alta Vista woke up to the sound of his Chevy pickup starting, looked outside, and saw his Chevy Silverado pickup being driven down the street, according to Roseville Police.

A  Roseville Police officer spotted the stolen truck being driven south on Vernon Street in Downtown Roseville.   The driver refused to yield, and officers pursued him into Citrus Heights.  The pursuit ended when the suspect driver collided with a telephone pole at the intersection of Sycamore Drive and Mariposa Avenue. The driver got out and fled on foot into a residential neighborhood.

Officers searched the area with the help of a Citrus Heights Police Department K9, and soon located the suspect hiding in some bushes in the 7700 block of Sycamore Drive.

He was taken into custody without further incident.  Property taken in a residential burglary in Roseville during the same time frame was found nearby, police said.

Randy Keith McCorkle, 33, of Citrus Heights was arrested on suspicion of vehicle theft, evading police officers, violation of parole and other related charges.  Detectives are also investigating his connection to a residential burglary.
